Square, portrait or landscape: which format should you choose for your AI photos?
The format changes the way a scene is told. Choosing it before generation helps preserve the subject, give the right place to the decor and avoid cropping that removes an important detail.

The square for compact reading
The square easily organizes a portrait, an object or a central composition. It is suitable when you want a self-contained, readable image without too long a reading movement. Reserve a margin around the subject if a title must be added afterwards: an already tight framing leaves little freedom.
The portrait for the silhouette
A vertical frame gives more space to the body, a dress or tall architecture. However, it requires monitoring of the extremities: head, hands and feet must remain in a useful area. A very narrow format is not always suitable for a pose with widely open arms.
The landscape for context
The horizontal frame allows us to relate a character and his environment. It works for a banner or narrative scene. If text must accompany the image, provide a quiet area and ensure mobile adaptation keeps the subject visible. The final cropping will depend on the chosen medium.
Putting this idea into practice
A banner with a subject on the right and a quiet area on the left can accommodate a title. For a portrait sheet, choose a vertical frame and a composition that does not depend on a very extensive decor.
Before choosing your images
- Define support before series.
- Preserve important elements near the edges.
- Also test mobile cropping.
